Conclusion
My
view is that education needs to change significantly if it is to be truly
learner-centred. Learner-driven pathways are being hijacked by tools that
support teachers not learners. Teachers need to do things differently,
become truly facilitators that create and sustain environments where learners
can thrive. In many cases this means putting in place transition arrangements
that scaffold learners into more self-directed practices. The schools
of the future are about independent learning - TAFE needs to be in step
with this.
