Margaret
Barron
Margaret Barron was a Flexible Learning Leader in 2001. She is a lecturer in
law at the Department of Justice Studies, Adelaide Institute of TAFE. In her
current position she is involved in developing more flexible ways to offer
justice related subjects.
Who says you need high tech multimedia to make and engage in effective simulations - or that you can't learn about values and attitudes online?
Margaret Barron describes her experiences working with a highly emotive topic in an online role play, using low tech tools such as email and a discussion forum. She emphasises the importance of the online moderator and the debriefing process and illustrates the story with evocative examples from the case study. Teachers at all levels will be able to consider how they might copy or adapt the methodology and rationale.
