Ian has researched and published on a range of issues including flexible and workplace learning, apprenticeships and traineeships, competency based training, the use of online technology in teaching and change management. Ian is currently completing a Doctor of Education degree at Monash University. He is investigating the impact of online technology on teachers' practice.

Ian's paper explores how teachers are changing their practice to incorporate the use of online technologies and online learning materials. His study compares the teaching principles that individuals bring to their practice with those that are reflected in their use of online technology.
